When it comes to browsing the internets just about any mouse will do. But if you play video games that require fast and accurate mouse movement then laser is the way to go. To that end, I've experimented with quite a few mice and have become a huge fan of Kensington mice in the last few years.
My spouse bought me a Kensington Pocketmouse Pro Wireless USB mouse four years ago and it served me faithfully until last month. The right and left mouse buttons simply wore out and stopped clicking reliably. Long before it died, I came to amazon looking for a backup/replacement mouse and after sifting through many reviews of other Kensington offerings, tried this one. Kensington Si750m Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse for PC or Mac K72269US which, for various reasons, quickly proved itself inferior to it's older sibling. I went back to amazon and found Old Reliable was still being sold and bought another.
The mouse itself is smoothly contoured, ergo-dynamic and fits my large palms perfectly. It has some weight to it which helps guide your hand. It lacks many features of other mice, such as side rubber gribs or battery life indicator leds but it does not need them to do it's job, imo. The battery life is excellent and the two AA batteries (which is where the weight comes from) are easily replaced. The precision scrollwheel control is vastly superior to any other mice I've ever used from any other manufacturer.
I've had many mice over the years. Trackball mice. Optical mice. Corded and wireless. None compare to this mouse in terms of comfort, precision, longevity and durability. Will buy this again and again until Kensington stops making it. Despite it's simple appearance, lack of programmable features or a catchy name, this is a gamer's mouse.
