The Bamboo Fun (Touch&Pen) is really amazing for somethings... not for everything.
I'm an architect/designer/photographer...so I use this tablet mostly with different design applications in Mac and PC...
I was hoping to be able to draw in AutoCAD with it, but, without another input peripherical (like and programmable pad) is almost imposible, or really difficult (at least for me...).
The thing is that in many CAD or modeling applications you use the mouse wheel for zooming and panning, and with the wacom pen is not so easy... (one option is programming a expresskey (4 in the tablet) or button in the pen to make the combination of keys/commands for zooming or panning, but this eliminates other important functions of those buttons... and if you do so with the expresskeys you have to use the hand you have on the keyboard (for entering the commands) to push that expresskey...-this makes your drawing slower, and not so comfortable and natural...-
However I must say wacom works great (really great) for other software. Photo editing, design/draw.... I talk specifically about the Adobe Creative Suit software...
As I work a lot between both kinds of apps (CADs and Adobe), I have no trouble changing my input hardware (using the wacom tablet is as natural as take/hold a pencil to make a quick note on a paper..., and even more easy when you combine the pen with the fingers gestures to zoom-in/out, rotate, etc).
Therefore I'll will strongly recommend this product for photographers, designers... and just for fun (I you can afford this kind of toy...!). For those of you who are looking for a new way of drawing on CAD applications, I will say it's not so comfortable... (but please, tell me if you find a way to enjoy this wonderfull tool with CADs...).
--------------
so...
CONS: The button programming software hasn't many possibilities. It can't remember different configurations for different applications. Some applications don't recognize the finger gestures, or do the zooming/rotating not smooth but in predefined parameters (steps)... Some applications don't recognize the "erase" function with the pen's rear end.
PROS: You can express yourself with handwritting, and hand-drawing sketches for your presentations, letters, etc... For using it you just have to get used about the correspondence between tablet and pointer on screen, and the working space (something a little difficult to control is when you want to enter a quick finger gesture without leaving the pen... if any pen's ends (tip/rear) is near to the tablet surface, the tablet inmediatly recognizes it instead of your finger...). When you get used to the movements and tablet-pen space, you can develop very high precision.
In spite of everything.... I'm loving mine!!! If you have one, enjoy it... if you don't, you should try it!
